Ghana's AFCON qualifiers opponent Sudan beat Sao Tome to blow Group C wide open
Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers opponent, Sudan has defeated Sao Tome & Principe today to blow Group C wide open as the series nears a conclusion.
The 2021 AFCON tournament was originally scheduled to be staged this year but has been postponed to January 2022.
Having excelled in the qualifiers before the Covid-19 pandemic forced CAF to announce the postponement of the tournament, Ghana is hoping to win its two remaining matches to secure qualification.
Ahead of a matchday 5 meeting with South Africa on Thursday, March 25, 2021, Group C has been blown wide open as a result of Sudan recording a 2-0 win against Sao Tome & Principe today.
The win means that Ghana, South Africa, as well as Sudan are now on 9 points and with a good chance of qualifying for next year’s AFCON.
To be safe, the Black Stars need to see off the Bafana Bafana tomorrow when they lock horns in Johannesburg.
The crucial encounter has been scheduled to kick-off at 16:00GMT.
